Mirage and Lumine by MirageLumine Mirage and Lumine by MirageLumine
Fan characters Mirage and Lumine.

I have already made a picture with Mirage, but once I wanted to draw them together. They're sisters, hence the similar body shape, olny their colours are inverted. Mirage is the more confident and cheerful one of the two, while Lumine is shy and introvert, more lady-like than her sister since Mirage is more of a tomboy.

Media:
Waterproof uni-ball pen, watercolour pencil, white paint.

Very pretty! I like how the little differences contrast their overall symmetry. Do these guys have a particular story to them?

Thank you!
I can't say too much about their story without getting onto spoiler territory though.
They are twin sisters of a made-up species, but they don't remember
much, if any of their parents (cliché much?). They usually say they are
jackals, but obviously, they are hard to chategorize into a set species,
and it is intended to be that way. Lumine, the black one is softer and nicer,
while Mirage, the white one is the quirckier and stronger of the two.
They were adopted into a team of misfits by a penguin who owns a bar
in a city (that penguin was sketched just like many other of the characters).
Their contrasting and still similar look is intended also. They are connected
in a deep spiritual level, and actually they are one entity, one existence,
only half-complete if they are alone. Their future story is kind of philosophical
and sad, but (cliché yet again) they have many friends to help them through
the discovery of their lives' true meaning.
Their true names would be Mirage the Illusion and Lumine the Reflection.

tl;dr: they are weird siblings.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe. . . But coming from a person who doesn't know anything about these hedgehog-girls, they still remind me of kannazuki no miko. Regardless if they are sisters. Things can be similar in other ways.

Indeed, you have a point there. True enough, I haven't seen
Kannazuki no miko to know enough about that so not like I
can say you are wrong. (As a sidenote, they aren't hedgehogs,
but it's okay, everyone thinks they are.)

Well, xD forgive me about the whole hedge-hog thing. The sonic artstyle make all the characters look like they are from the same species, more or less. maybe except for big and cream and froggy. Those ones are obvious. And tales and Rouge. But, that's about it.

It's okay, no harm was done. =') The artstyle leaves only so
much room for customization, so it happens. And I didn't have
any exact species in mind for these two at the start of their
designing period, so it's partly my fault as well.

Nope, they are canines. Jackals, to be more precise.
If I remember right, Sonic also has ears, just smaller ones.
Anyway, I'm doing fine. And yourself?

Wow, great work at this! 8D
I really like to see some well done traditional art between all these photoshop-made pictures.. and this appears simply amazing to me! 8D
The crossing of the yellow and red/orange on the left, and the dark purple/black crossing on the right side is nearly flawless.. fantastic job at this! C:
Also I like the details you added, such as the reflections on the blue diamond.. thing on Mirage´s belt ( mirage is left, right?)
Love the poses as well as the coloring on their hair ... awesome work :meow:

Such nice critics can make my day among those short comments~ XD
True there are more photoshop works especially among the Sonic-
styled pictures, since the original style is also done with
computer but I'm lame when it comes to PS. XD

By the way, Mirage is the one on the right with the red and white fur. :meow:

Very pretty, color for watercolors...I can't use them to save my life. XD

My Mirage has a sister to..her name is Harmony. She is however quite a bit younger...by about 10 years. XD

I'm also just experimenting with this media, I wonder if I can actually master it... I can't use it decently. xD

These sisters are about the same age. They're like twins (can you see the resemblance? xP )

You look like a master with it to me...you can use it better then I can. XD

My forte when I do use traditional media is copic markers...I haven't used them in ages though so I don't know how well I'd do with them...I should try using them again sometime soon in the future.

Yeah, I can tell.

You see, copic markers beat me. xD I just can't work with them, they feel uncomfortable. xD So I'm either using simple pencils or watercolour. XD

Really? Well we both have our forte, I'm pretty good with markers and I usually photoshop color these days, cause my markers never looked as good on dA as they did in person...while your still more traditional.

Would you like to see what my Mirage started off as? I still have the very first drawing I ever did of her. XD
I need to update this timeline...I've changed her and I've changed myself a little bit since the last one.

It's nice to see how she started off. :D Also, your style developed a lot during those years. =3 I don't think I have the older pictures of my Mirage, noone could recognise her anyway, she changed so much.

Yeah, I know there are a lot of people that are floored that I still have that ancient picture from when I was 12 years old.

You may have seen it already but this is my newest picture of her that would be the next one in line: [link]

Really? No one could recognize her? Did she change that much? I suppose maybe that's a good thing though, shows how much you've advanced.

Yes, I've seen that new picture, and I really like how she looks there. :D She looks a bit tomboyish, haha (not a bad thing though) xD

My very first Mirage was a hedgehog...I changed her species as soon as I could and changed a few things in her appearance. Only her clothes are the same, and the two toned hair (it wasn't coloured in the older vesions).
